Sugared Grapes are a perfect cool snack for summer, a festive snack for the holidays, and the perfect boozy treat for New Year. The tartness of the grapes compliments the sugary exterior.
1bottlesparkling wineuse just enough to cover the grapes
2Cupsgreen grapesremoved from stem, rinsed
½Cupwhite granulated sugarfor coating
Instructions
Remove grapes from the stem and rinse well. Put the grapes in a medium bowl and pour the sparkling wine over them until they’re just covered. Cover and place in the fridge for at least 12 hours.
Fill a small bowl with a 1/4 cup of sugar, reserve the remaining sugar for later. Remove the grapes from the fridge. Use a slotted spoon to remove the grapes from the bowl and let them drain before placing them in the sugar.
Work in small batches, maybe 10-12 grapes at a time. Roll the grapes in the sugar to get well coated. Remove from the sugar and place on a serving plate in a single layer. If the sugar begins to clump, toss it and use the remaining 1/4 cup of sugar.
Once all the grapes are coated, place in the freezer and freeze for 2 hours, or until frozen through.
Notes
You do not have to freeze these, they can be served once they’re coated and chilled. The frozen grapes last longer when serving at a gathering.
