Why my recipe works

The dark meat of the chicken thighs makes this flavorful and moist. The sauce uses common pantry ingredients, making it a great quick and easy dinner.

Ingredients and Substitutions

  • Chicken thighs bone-in with skin, or you can substitute chicken breasts or a boneless chicken.
  • Sauce: a mix of honey, ketchup, soy sauce, garlic paste, and seasoning of dried oregano and parsley mixed together to make this sweet, sticky sauce. The amounts can be adjusted to your taste.

Recipe Directions

  1. Lightly spray a 4-quart slow cooker with vegetable oil. Arrange the chicken thighs on the bottom of the slow cooker insert.
  2. In a bowl or measuring cup combine the soy sauce, ketchup, honey, garlic paste, oregano, and parsley.
  3. Pour the honey garlic sauce over the chicken.
  4. Cover and cook on high for 4 hours. The chicken should reach an internal temperature of 165° F.

Recipe Notes

  • Use enough chicken thighs to cover the bottom of your slow cooker. If you make a smaller amount, use a smaller slow cooker.
  • Your slow cooker may run a little hotter or cooler so it’s good to check the chicken after 4 hours to determine if you need to cook longer than the suggested 4 hours.
  • 165° Fahrenheit is the safe internal temperature for chicken. Check out the guidelines from the USDA.
