Ingredients & Substitutions Notes

- Chicken Breast – Boneless, skinless chicken breast is used, but you can also use boneless chicken thighs for a juicier texture.
Broccoli Florets – Adds a nice crunch. Swap with snap peas, bell peppers, or zucchini if you prefer. - Green Onion – A fresh, slightly spicy garnish. If you don’t have green onions, try chopped cilantro or parsley.
- Honey – Provides natural sweetness. You can substitute with maple syrup or brown sugar.
Soy Sauce – Adds umami flavor. Use low-sodium soy sauce.- Sesame Oil – A little goes a long way in adding a rich, nutty depth to the dish.
Orange Juice – Fresh is best for bright citrus flavor, but bottled works too. If you don’t have orange juice, try pineapple juice or a splash of rice vinegar.
Garlic & Ginger – These classic aromatics build deep flavor. Fresh is best, but powdered versions can be used in a pinch.
Ketchup – Adds slight acidity and sweetness to balance the flavors. If you prefer, use tomato paste with a pinch of sugar.
Recipe Directions

Dice the chicken, season, and sprinkle in the cornstarch. Mix to coat the chicken.

In a small bowl, mix all the sauce ingredients and set aside.

Over medium-high heat, heat sesame oil in a skillet or small wok and add the chicken. Cook for 6-7 minutes.

Add half the sauce and continue cooking.

Add the broccoli.

Add the remaining sauce and continue cooking until broccoli is tender.

Recipe Notes & Tips for Success
- Toss the chicken in cornstarch for extra crispiness. This gives the chicken a lightly crisp coating that helps the sauce cling better.
- A hot pan helps sear the chicken quickly and keeps the broccoli vibrant and slightly crisp.
- For the best results, cook the broccoli just until tender-crisp to maintain a slight crunch.
- Prepping the sauce in advance helps everything come together smoothly in the pan.
- If you like your stir-fry on the sweeter sider, add a little more honey. If you want a spicy kick, toss in some red pepper flakes or sriracha.

- This recipe makes just enough sauce to coat the chicken and broccoli, but if you prefer extra sauce, double up the recipe.
What to Serve with Honey Chicken Stir Fry
This dish is delicious on its own, but here are a few serving ideas to make it a complete meal:
- Steamed Rice – Classic white or brown rice soaks up the flavorful sauce beautifully. Try my easy garlic butter rice recipe.
- Cauliflower Rice – A great alternative that pairs well with the dish.
- Noodles – Serve over cooked lo mein, ramen, or rice noodles for a heartier meal.
- Side of Egg Rolls or Dumplings – For a takeout-inspired experience.
- Steamed or Roasted Vegetables – Try adding carrots, snow peas, or baby corn for extra color and texture. I sometimes toss in a few leftover roasted grape tomatoes.
- Garnish with Extra Green Onions or Sesame Seeds – A final sprinkle enhances the presentation and adds a fresh crunch.
